We’re thrilled to welcome Daniel Fife to the Burian & Associates team as our new Lead Hydraulic Designer!
Dan has a strong foundation in water resources engineering, with extensive knowledge in hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, stormwater modeling, drainage design, and FEMA permitting. He is well-versed in a wide range of industry tools, including HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, HY-8, and ArcGIS, and he’s known for his innovative, solution-focused approach to complex engineering challenges.
Dan earned his Master of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of North Dakota and his Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering from the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology. He is a Certified Floodplain Manager and a member of both the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and the Association of State Floodplain Managers.
At Burian & Associates, Dan leads hydraulic design efforts across a variety of projects. His focus is on ensuring technical excellence and regulatory compliance, while supporting our team through quality assurance and review processes. His technical skills and leadership play a key role in shaping resilient, effective water solutions for our clients and communities.
In addition to his technical expertise, Dan approaches his work with a thoughtful perspective on water’s role in engineering. “Water is the world’s most patient engineer; our task is to listen to its flow and shape solutions that endure beyond our own horizon,” he explains – a philosophy that reflects his solution-driven mindset.
“We’re excited to have Dan Fife join the Burian & Associates team. He is passionate about water engineering and compliments our wide range of water engineering capabilities,” shared Steve Burian, President & CEO.
Outside of work, Dan finds inspiration in the outdoors. He enjoys fishing, traveling, and exploring nature whenever he can. At home, life stays busy with his wife, their three children, and two dogs.
