About The Project
Burian & Associates provided civil design services for the UND Nodak Insurance Sports Performance Center project which includes a 28,000 SF building expansion to the west side of the existing Fritz D. Pollard Jr. Athletic Center, parking lot, sidewalk, landscaping, and drainage improvements. The project also included a storm water detention pond east of the existing athletic facility that will act as a regional detention facility, providing additional stormwater detention for adjacent campus improvement projects, as well as providing capacity relief to storm sewer downstream of the site. The storm water design for this site required detailed coordination with adjacent projects, the University of North Dakota, and the City of Grand Forks to ensure integration with the University’s and City’s stormwater master plans. The new building addition is connected to the adjacent Hyslop at Memorial Village project through an above ground pedestrian tunnel, called the Hawkway, north of the existing track and field facility.
Along with the project civil design, Burian & Associates completed the topographic survey of the existing site to accurately locate all aboveground and subsurface features, as well as map the ground elevation of the site required to complete the design.
