  • About The Project

Tharaldson Hospitality Development retained Burian & Associates to design a comprehensive site plan for a new three-story hotel in Medora for the Theodore Roosevelt Medora Foundation (TRMF), incorporating key site features and considerations. The hotel project is ongoing, with design elements including a concrete parking lot, sidewalks, and robust infrastructure systems. Given the property’s location within a floodplain, flood mitigation and drainage strategies were integral to the design process.

As part of the broader West River Development initiative, Burian & Associates completed stormwater management plans for the entire development, ensuring effective drainage and compliance with regulatory requirements. Additionally, the team conducted comprehensive water and sewer studies to support the hotel’s infrastructure needs and potential future developments. These efforts align with the development’s long-term vision, which includes a new rodeo arena and other associated developments.

Burian & Associates contributed to broader development planning, including utility master planning, parking planning, general site grading, and massing analysis. These efforts provided a cohesive framework for the West River Development and informed the integration of various components.

A comprehensive topographic survey was conducted to map all aboveground and subsurface features, establishing accurate ground elevations essential for effective layout and design. Leveraging property information and historical construction data, Burian & Associates developed a detailed existing conditions plan to guide the creation of precise construction documents. Our team is also providing a key role in the platting process for the new hotel, ensuring proper subdivision of the property, compliance with local zoning and land use requirements, and facilitating necessary approvals.
