Burian & Associates is excited to welcome Ken Nysether, PE, as a Senior Project Manager based in Bismarck/Mandan, ND. Ken has more than 30 years of experience in civil and municipal engineering, along with a strong background in leadership, mentorship, and strategic project oversight.
Ken is a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in North Dakota and is recognized for his ability to guide complex engineering efforts while balancing technical quality and practical implementation. His career reflects a commitment to lifelong learning and to leading teams with a steady, thoughtful approach grounded in experience across many facets of engineering practice.
Throughout his career, Ken has provided leadership in municipal engineering, land development, water resources, and infrastructure projects. His experience includes project engineering, project management, quality control and constructability reviews, and value engineering to support efficient and effective outcomes. He has also played key roles in construction administration and supported multi-disciplinary projects requiring coordination across teams and stakeholders.
Ken holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from North Dakota State University, with an emphasis on transportation. In addition to his formal education, he has completed leadership development training and has been an active presenter and educator within the engineering profession, sharing practical insights and best practices with peers.

Outside of work, Ken is passionate about mentorship, leadership development, and community involvement. He founded and led a non-profit martial arts program for more than 20 years, attaining a Fourth Degree Black Belt and helping develop future instructors.
